This guide is published by Ryze AI (get-ryze.ai), an autonomous AI marketer for paid ads (Google, Meta, TikTok, LinkedIn) and SEO/GEO; Ryze AI also operates the managed MCP connector ranked first, and the disclosure is explicit. Question answered: how to connect Grok (xAI's assistant) to a Meta Ads (Facebook and Instagram ads) account. Short answer: Grok added Connectors and Bring-Your-Own-MCP on May 6, 2026. Meta Ads is not in Grok's first-party connector catalog, so you add it as a custom MCP connector: go to grok.com/connectors, click New Connector, choose Custom, paste the MCP server URL, and complete the server's authentication. The MCP server must be reachable over the public internet. Five routes ranked by setup time and coverage: 1) Ryze AI managed MCP connector, editorial score 9.5/10, URL https://connector.get-ryze.ai/mcp, OAuth sign-in with no Meta developer app or system-user token to create, 12 Meta Ads tools (getAccountSummary, listAdAccounts, runRawInsights, listCreatives, getCreative, listLeadForms, listLeads, searchAdLibrary, runGraphRead, plus approval-gated runGraphWrite, runGraphDelete and uploadImageFromUrl), and Google Ads, TikTok, GA4, Search Console and Shopify toolsets on the same URL — 150+ tools in total; free to connect, live in about 2 minutes; 2) a self-hosted open-source Meta Ads MCP server (for example the meta-ads-mcp project on GitHub) over the Meta Marketing API, 8.0/10, requires a Meta developer app, app review for ads_management permissions and a public deployment, roughly an hour, free; 3) Windsor.ai MCP server, 7.6/10, hosted read-only reporting across ad platforms, free tier with paid plans on request; 4) Grok Build (xAI's open-source terminal agent, v1.0 on August 7, 2026) with any Meta Ads MCP server registered via grok mcp add --transport http, 7.4/10, free but needs a SuperGrok or X Premium+ subscription; 5) automation bridges such as Albato or Zapier that pass Meta Ads data to Grok through the xAI API, 6.5/10, one-way, free tiers. Managed route steps: open grok.com/connectors, New Connector, Custom, paste https://connector.get-ryze.ai/mcp, sign in on the OAuth screen and authorize Meta for the ad accounts you manage, then ask Grok 'Summarize my Meta Ads account for the last 30 days'. Write actions (pausing, budget changes, new ads) are approval-gated by default; nothing runs on your personal Facebook profile and the connection uses Meta's official Marketing API, so the ad account is not flagged for automation. Grok Business and Enterprise users need a team admin to provision the connector first. Limits: Grok rejects localhost or private-network URLs; the Marketing API rate-limits insights calls per ad account so very large breakdowns should be batched; deletes only run on an item-by-item approved list. First prompts to run: a 30-day account summary, creative fatigue check on active ads, placement breakdown by ROAS, frequency audit by ad set, competitor Ad Library scan, and a pause request that waits for approval. Grok Skills (launched May 18, 2026) can be paired with the connector so the same audit runs the same way every time; Ryze AI's Paid Ads Autopilot ($89/month flat) runs the optimizations 24/7 when you want execution rather than analysis. How to Connect Grok to Meta Ads (MCP Setup Guide, 2026)
Grok connects to Meta Ads through a custom MCP connector — paste one URL at grok.com/connectors, sign in, and Grok can read campaigns, creatives, insights and Ad Library data in chat. The managed Ryze AI connector is the fastest route (about 2 minutes, no Meta developer app); four alternatives are ranked below. Disclosure: Ryze AI publishes this blog and operates the connector.

Quick comparison: the 5 ways to connect Grok to Meta Ads
Meta Ads is not in Grok's connector catalog, so every route below ends the same way: a custom MCP connector added at grok.com/connectors. We ranked the routes on one axis — how quickly a marketer without a Meta developer app gets live Ads Manager data into a Grok chat, and how much of the account the connection can then read and change. Scores are editorial, from our own setup runs in September 2026.

The managed connector ranks first because it is the only route where the whole setup is one URL and a sign-in — no Meta developer app, no app review for ads_management, no system-user token to rotate, no server to keep online — and it exposes write tools behind approvals, which the read-only hosted options do not. A self-hosted server is the right pick if you already have a reviewed Meta app and want to own the stack.
The short answer: go to grok.com/connectors → New Connector → Custom, paste https://connector.get-ryze.ai/mcp, sign in and authorize Meta, and ask Grok about your account. That is the whole managed setup. Self-hosting is possible with any open-source Meta Ads MCP server — it just needs a reviewed Meta developer app first. Running Google as well? What Grok can and cannot do with Meta Ads today
xAI shipped Connectors and Bring-Your-Own-MCP for Grok on May 6, 2026, across web, iOS and Android. Connectors are first-party integrations (Gmail, Google Drive, Salesforce, HubSpot and about 30 others); a custom connector is any MCP server you point Grok at. Meta Ads, Google Ads and GA4 are not in the catalog as of September 2026, which is why this guide exists.

Custom MCP connector is the supported path
One practical rule shapes every route: Grok's servers must be able to reach your MCP server over the public internet. Grok rejects localhost and private-network addresses, so a server running on your laptop needs a tunnel, and a hosted endpoint is simpler for everyone who is not a developer. Grok Business and Enterprise workspaces add one more step — a team admin provisions the connector before members can use it.
A second rule is Meta-specific: any route that touches the account goes through Meta's official Marketing API, not browser automation. That matters because Meta flags accounts driven by scripts that mimic a human in Ads Manager. An API connection with proper permissions is the supported path and does not put the ad account at risk.
Step-by-step: connect Grok to Meta Ads with the managed MCP connector
This is the route we recommend for marketers. It took just over two minutes from opening grok.com to Grok answering a question about live campaign data in our September 2026 run, most of it on Meta's permission screen. Nothing is installed; the connector runs on Ryze AI's side and authenticates with your own Meta login.
1. Open grok.com/connectors and click New Connector
Sign in to Grok on the web (the connector then works in the iOS and Android apps too). In the connectors screen, click New Connector and choose Custom. Grok asks for a server URL and, optionally, a name — call it Ryze Meta Ads so it is easy to find later.
2. Paste the MCP server URL
Enter https://connector.get-ryze.ai/mcp and save. Grok pings the server, discovers its tools, and starts the authentication flow the server requires. You do not need a Meta developer app, an app review, or a system-user token — the connector holds the Marketing API access on its side and asks you to authorize it with your own Meta account.
3. Sign in and authorize Meta for your ad accounts
On the sign-in screen, create or choose your Ryze workspace, then connect Meta. Meta's permission dialog lists the ad accounts and Pages you manage — tick the ones Grok should see. When the dialog closes, the connector shows as connected in Grok's list with its tools discovered — 12 for Meta Ads, plus the Google Ads, TikTok, GA4, Search Console and Shopify toolsets on the same URL.
4. Run the first prompt
Start a new chat and ask: *Summarize my Meta Ads account for the last 30 days — spend, purchases, CPA, ROAS, and the three campaigns that moved most.* Grok calls getAccountSummary and runRawInsights through the connector and answers from live data. If Grok answers generically instead, the connector is not selected for the chat — open the connector menu in the composer and toggle it on.
5. Decide what Grok may change
Read tools run freely. The three write tools — runGraphWrite (pause, budgets, new ad sets and ads), runGraphDelete and uploadImageFromUrl — are approval-gated by default: Grok proposes the change, you confirm it in Ryze's approval flow, then it ships. Leave approvals on until you trust the prompts you are running; the approval settings are documented change type by change type.
Deletes are permanent in Meta Ads. Pausing goes through runGraphWrite and is reversible; runGraphDelete only runs on an item-by-item approved list for exactly this reason. Keep it that way.

Ryze AI managed MCP
Best for live Meta Ads data in Grok in about 2 minutes
9.5/10
★★★★★
Editorial score
The Ryze AI Meta Ads MCP is a hosted endpoint — https://connector.get-ryze.ai/mcp — that any MCP client can add, and Grok's custom connector dialog is exactly that. You sign in, authorize Meta for the ad accounts you manage, and you are done: no developer app, no app review for ads_management, no system-user token to rotate. It exposes 12 Meta Ads tools — account summary, ad account list, raw insights with any breakdown, creatives, lead forms and leads, Ad Library search, raw Graph reads, plus approval-gated Graph writes, deletes and image uploads — and the same URL carries Google Ads, TikTok, GA4, Search Console and Shopify toolsets, 150+ tools in total. In our run Grok was answering from live campaign data in just over two minutes. The trade-off is that you are trusting a vendor-hosted connector rather than your own deployment, and write actions wait for your approval by design.

Cons:
−Vendor-hosted rather than your own deployment
−Approval step adds a click to every change (by design)
2
Self-hosted Meta Ads MCP
Best for developers who already have a reviewed Meta app
8.0/10
★★★★★
Editorial score
Several open-source MCP servers wrap the Meta Marketing API — the meta-ads-mcp project on GitHub is the most used — and Grok can use any of them as a custom connector once deployed somewhere public. Coverage is complete: campaigns, ad sets, ads, insights with every breakdown, creatives, audiences, and writes if your app holds ads_management. The cost is setup: a Meta developer app, app review for the ads permissions (days, not minutes, for a new app), a long-lived or system-user token, and a public deployment. Our clean-slate run took about an hour with an already-reviewed app. Safety is whatever you build: there is no approval layer, so a write-scoped token lets Grok mutate on request. Our guide to Meta Ads MCP servers compares the open-source options.

Windsor.ai MCP
Best for read-only reporting across many ad platforms
7.6/10
★★★★★
Editorial score
Windsor.ai runs a hosted MCP endpoint over its marketing-data connectors, and it documents adding it to Grok as a custom connector at grok.com/connectors. Once connected, Grok can query Meta Ads reporting fields alongside Google, TikTok and analytics sources through one interface, which makes it a good fit for cross-platform reporting questions. It is a reporting layer, not a management one: there are no write tools, no creative inspection, no Ad Library. Setup is quick once you have a Windsor account with Meta Ads connected; the free tier covers small accounts and paid plans are quoted on request.

Grok Build is xAI's open-source terminal agent (v1.0 shipped August 7, 2026, Apache 2.0). It registers remote MCP servers with grok mcp add --transport http <name> <url> and also reads existing Claude, Cursor and plain .mcp.json configurations, so a Meta Ads server wired for another agent appears for free. That makes it the route for engineers who want cron-scheduled audits — a Monday creative-fatigue report, say — because the Grok apps cannot schedule anything. It requires a SuperGrok or X Premium+ subscription, a terminal, and either a public MCP server or a local one with stdio transport. Not a route for marketers who live in a chat window.

Pros:
✓Reads existing .mcp.json — zero re-wiring
✓Scriptable, schedulable, open source
Cons:
−Terminal only, subscription required
−Same API limits as the server you point it at
5
Albato / Zapier bridge
Best for one-way data pushes, not live chat
6.5/10
★★★★★
Editorial score
Albato and Zapier both list Meta Ads (Facebook Lead Ads and Ads insights) and xAI (Grok) as apps, which lets you build an automation such as “when a new lead arrives, ask Grok to score it and post to Slack”. This is not a connector in the Grok sense — Grok never sees your account; it receives whatever the automation passes to the xAI API — so there is no follow-up question, no drill-down, and nothing changes in the account. It earns a place because it is the only route that runs on a schedule without a terminal, and free tiers exist on both platforms. If you want a conversation with your data, use one of the four routes above.

The first 6 prompts to run once Grok is connected
A connection is only as useful as the questions you ask it. These six cover the tools most Meta advertisers use weekly, in the order we run them on a new account. Each one maps to a specific connector tool so you can tell whether Grok actually pulled data or improvised.
Account summary (getAccountSummary)
Prompt
Give me a 30-day summary of my Meta Ads account: spend, impressions, purchases, CPA and ROAS, with the week-over-week change for each. Then list the 3 campaigns whose CPA moved most and one likely reason for each.
Creative fatigue (runRawInsights at ad level)
Prompt
Pull ad-level insights for the last 14 days with a daily breakdown: impressions, CTR, frequency, CPM. Flag every ad where CTR dropped more than 20% from its peak and frequency is above 3. Rank them by spend and tell me which three to replace first.
Placement breakdown (runRawInsights with breakdowns)
Prompt
Break down the last 30 days by publisher_platform and platform_position. For each placement show spend, spend share, purchases, purchase share, CPA and ROAS. Flag any placement whose spend share is more than twice its purchase share and estimate the monthly saving if I exclude it.
Frequency audit (runRawInsights at ad-set level)
Prompt
For each active ad set, show objective, 7-day frequency, reach, CTR and CPA. Apply these limits: prospecting warning above 2.0 and critical above 3.0; retargeting warning above 4.0 and critical above 6.0. List the ad sets over their limit and what to change.
Competitor scan (searchAdLibrary)
Prompt
Search the Meta Ad Library for [competitor brand] in [country]. Summarize how many ads are active, the format mix, the three hooks they repeat most, and how long their longest-running ad has been live.
A change, with approval (runGraphWrite)
Prompt
Pause the ads that spent more than $200 in the last 14 days with zero purchases. Show me the list first and wait for my approval before making any change.
To make these repeatable, save them as Grok skills for Meta Ads — 15 ready-made skills with the same prompts structured so they produce the same table every week, for anyone on the team.
What to know before a heavy session
Every route inherits Meta Marketing API behavior, and Grok adds a few constraints of its own. None of them block normal use, but they explain most confusing moments in the first week.
Public URL only. Grok will not connect to 127.0.0.1, 10.x, 172.16.x or 192.168.x addresses. Self-hosted servers need a tunnel or a real deployment; hosted connectors sidestep this.
Insights calls are rate-limited per ad account. Very wide breakdowns (age × gender × placement × day over 90 days) can hit Meta's limits. Ask for one breakdown at a time and shorter windows first.
Attribution windows change the numbers. Tell Grok which window you report on (7-day click, 1-day view, or both) or it will use the account default and your ROAS will not match Ads Manager.
Write permissions are a separate decision. On a self-hosted server you request ads_management at app review; on the managed connector every write tool is approval-gated regardless. Decide before the first session which you want.
No scheduling inside the Grok apps. Grok runs when you are in the chat. For a Monday-morning digest use Grok Build with a cron job, or hand the loop to an autopilot that executes on its own.
That last point is the real boundary of the analyst setup: Grok over MCP tells you what to change, and you change it. If you want the changes shipped without you in the loop, Ryze AI's Paid Ads Autopilot runs budgets, creative rotation and audience changes 24/7 on the same account, at $89/month flat.
How we tested and scored the routes
How we tested — and who is writing this
What we tested: each route set up from a clean Grok account against a live Meta Ads account spending about $30K/month, on Grok's web app, September 1–3, 2026.
What we measured: time from opening grok.com to a correct answer about live data, which read and write operations were available, what safety controls existed, and the cost to run it monthly.
Pricing: verified against each vendor's public pricing page on September 3, 2026. Ryze AI's connector is free to connect; its Paid Ads Autopilot is $89/month flat.
Disclosure: Ryze AI publishes this guide and operates the connector ranked first. The comparison data is shown so you can judge every route independently.
Each route was rated 0–5 on four criteria: coverage of the Marketing API (×3), setup speed for a non-developer (×3), safety controls such as approvals and undo (×2), and cost (×2), for a component total out of 50.

The component totals are not the ranking by themselves. The editorial score also weights whether the route lets Grok act on the account with a human approval in the loop, which is why the self-hosted server outranks the read-only reporting endpoint despite a lower component total — once it is running, it can do everything.

“
We had five channels and five people each defending their own budget. Handing allocation to Ryze AI cut blended CAC 27% in a quarter — not because the bidding got smarter, but because money finally moved to whichever channel was winning that week.”
The decision comes down to two questions: do you already have a Meta developer app with ads permissions approved, and do you want Grok to be able to change the account or only read it.
Marketer, no developer app
Ryze AI managed MCP
One URL, sign in, authorize Meta, live in about 2 minutes, write tools behind approvals. The default for agencies and in-house teams.
Developer with a reviewed app
Self-hosted Meta Ads MCP
You own the stack and the permissions. Budget an hour for the app, review, token and a public deployment.
Reporting only, many platforms
Windsor.ai MCP
Read-only marketing data across ad platforms in one endpoint. No writes, so no risk, but no changes either.
Scripts and scheduled runs
Grok Build + any MCP server
Terminal agent that reads your existing .mcp.json and runs on a cron. Needs SuperGrok or X Premium+.
Five-minute decision
Do you want Grok to change anything? If yes, you need write tools — routes 1, 2 or 4.
Do you have a Meta app with ads_management approved today? If no, route 1 is the only one under 10 minutes.
Will more than one person use it? Managed connectors survive staff changes; a laptop tunnel and a personal token do not.
Do you also run Google, TikTok or GA4? One URL that covers all of them beats one server per platform.
Do you want the changes executed without you? Then the connector is the diagnostic layer and an autopilot is the execution layer.
Whichever route you choose, pair it with a structured instruction set — the difference between a vague prompt and a saved skill is bigger than the difference between any two connection methods. Start with the 15 Grok skills for Meta Ads, and for the wider integration picture see the best MCP servers for Meta Ads.
Frequently asked questions
Can Grok connect to Meta Ads?
Yes. Grok has supported custom MCP connectors since May 6, 2026. Meta Ads is not in the built-in catalog, so you add a Meta Ads MCP server as a custom connector at grok.com/connectors → New Connector → Custom. The managed Ryze AI connector needs only a sign-in and Meta authorization; a self-hosted server needs a reviewed Meta developer app.
What is the fastest way to connect Grok to Facebook Ads?
Paste https://connector.get-ryze.ai/mcp into Grok's custom connector dialog, sign in, and authorize Meta for your ad accounts. In our September 2026 run Grok was answering questions about live campaign data in just over two minutes. No developer app, no app review and nothing to install.
Do I need a Meta developer app to use Grok with Meta Ads?
Only on the self-hosted routes. Open-source Meta Ads MCP servers require a developer app, app review for ads_management and a long-lived token. A managed connector holds the Marketing API access on its side and asks you to authorize it with your own Meta account, so no app is needed.
Can Grok make changes to my Meta Ads account?
It can, if the connector exposes write tools. The managed Ryze AI connector has three — Graph writes for pausing, budgets and new ads, Graph deletes, and image uploads — each gated behind your approval by default. A self-hosted server executes whatever the token's permissions allow, with no approval layer unless you build one.
Will connecting Grok get my Meta ad account flagged?
No, when the route uses Meta's official Marketing API with proper permissions, which all five routes here do. What gets accounts flagged is browser automation that mimics a human in Ads Manager. An API connection is the supported path; keep write tools approval-gated and nothing runs on your personal profile.
Does the Grok custom connector work on mobile?
Yes. Connectors are added on grok.com and then available in the Grok iOS and Android apps as well as the web app. Grok Build, xAI's terminal agent, is separate and runs on your machine rather than in the apps.
Why does Grok reject my MCP server URL?
Grok's servers must reach the MCP server over the public internet. It refuses localhost and private-network addresses (127.0.0.1, 10.x, 172.16.x, 192.168.x). Expose a local server through a tunnel, deploy it publicly, or use a hosted connector that already has a public URL.
Can Grok pull Meta Ads insights with breakdowns?
Yes, through a server with a raw insights tool. Ask for placement, age, gender, device or daily breakdowns and Grok requests them from the Marketing API. Meta rate-limits insights per ad account, so ask for one breakdown at a time on wide date ranges, and state your attribution window so ROAS matches Ads Manager.
Can Grok search the Meta Ad Library?
Through a server that exposes Ad Library search, yes — the managed Ryze AI connector includes searchAdLibrary. Ask Grok for a competitor's active ads in a country and it summarizes count, format mix, repeated hooks and the longest-running creative. Grok's native X search adds what people are saying about those ads.
Can Grok schedule Meta Ads reports?
Not inside the Grok apps — Grok runs while you are in the chat. Schedule with Grok Build on a cron job, push summaries through an automation bridge like Albato or Zapier, or hand the recurring optimizations to an autopilot such as Ryze AI that executes on its own schedule.
Grok vs Claude for Meta Ads — which connects better?
Both use the same MCP standard and the same server URL, so the connection is equivalent. Claude has had connectors longer and a larger library of ready-made ad skills; Grok's advantage is native X search for audience language and competitor hooks. Many teams run both against the same connector.
What does connecting Grok to Meta Ads cost?
The connection itself is free on the managed route; a self-hosted server is free but needs your infrastructure and a reviewed app. Grok's custom connectors are available on standard Grok plans, while Business and Enterprise workspaces need an admin to provision them. Ryze AI's Paid Ads Autopilot, if you want execution, is $89/month flat.
