PPC Management Pricing in 2026: What It Costs, by Who Does It
PPC management pricing only makes sense once you sort it by who does the work. In 2026 there are four lanes: freelancers billing by the hour (agency hourly bands published on Clutch run $50–$199/hr, and independents generally price below the agencies they compete with), agencies at $1,500–$5,000/month retainers or 10–20% of ad spend — WebFX's own pricing page puts digital advertising at "$301 to $5,000 per month" for most businesses — software with published prices from $49 to about $249/month, and managed-AI services from $999/month (groas). This guide gives each lane its own cost table with sources, then works out the break-even spend levels where one lane overtakes another. Disclosure: this page is published by Ryze AI, whose $89–$1,499 flat plans appear in the software and managed-AI lanes; every number is either published by the seller or labeled as a market range.

The four lanes of PPC management, priced
Everything you can buy in PPC management fits one of four lanes. Each lane's headline numbers, with where they come from.
| Lane | Typical cost (Aug 2026) | Pricing model | Source |
|---|---|---|---|
| Freelancer | hourly — market bands roughly $50–$150/hr; often $500–$1,500/mo in practice | Hourly or small retainer | No central rate card; agency hourly bands on Clutch run $50–$199/hr as the ceiling |
| Agency | $1,500–$5,000/mo retainer or 10–20% of spend | Retainer / % of spend | Market range; WebFX's own pricing page says "$301 to $5,000 per month" for most businesses |
| Software | $49–$249/mo published entry prices | Flat or spend-tiered subscription | Vendor pricing pages: Birch $49, Ryze AI $89, Opteo $129, Adalysis ~$149, Optmyzr ~$208, TrueClicks $249 |
| Managed AI | $999/mo (groas) · $599–$1,499/mo (Ryze AI human tiers, ours) | Flat monthly fee | Both published on the vendors' pricing pages |
The lanes are not interchangeable at every budget. Freelancers and agencies sell hours, so their cost scales with the attention your account needs. Software sells capability and leaves the hours to you. Managed AI sells delegation at a flat fee. The rest of this page prices each lane properly, then finds the spend levels where the math flips from one lane to the next.

Lane 1: what a PPC freelancer costs
The freelancer lane has no published rate cards, so honesty requires arithmetic instead of stickers. Here is how to price it properly.
The hourly math, anchored to what agencies publish
Agencies do publish hourly bands — on Clutch, accessed August 2026: JumpFly lists $50–$99/hr, KlientBoost, SmartSites and Solutions 8 list $100–$149/hr, and Disruptive Advertising lists $150–$199/hr. Independent freelancers compete below agency overhead, so the practical band for a competent independent sits at or under the low agency bands — think $50–$100/hr for experienced generalists, more for specialists with a track record. None of that is a published price; it is a market observation you should verify against actual quotes.
What the monthly bill looks like
| Engagement | Hours/month | At $60/hr | At $100/hr |
|---|---|---|---|
| Light maintenance (one small account) | 5–8 | $300–$480 | $500–$800 |
| Active management (testing, builds) | 10–15 | $600–$900 | $1,000–$1,500 |
| Heavy engagement (multi-campaign, reporting) | 20–30 | $1,200–$1,800 | $2,000–$3,000 |
Two things follow from the table. First, an actively managed account by a freelancer costs about what an entry agency retainer costs — the freelancer's advantage is flexibility and no minimum, not a categorically lower price. Second, the freelancer lane's real risks are not on the invoice: single-person coverage (vacations, illness, churn), variable quality with no firm behind it, and the same hours-scale-with-spend dynamic agencies have. What a freelancer genuinely beats is the agency minimum: several large agencies list $5,000+ minimum project sizes on Clutch, and a freelancer will take the $1,000/month engagement they decline.
Lane 2: what a PPC agency costs
Most agencies publish nothing, so this lane mixes the few self-published numbers with Clutch-listed minimums and honest market ranges — labeled which is which.
The published numbers
WebFX is the most transparent large agency: its own digital-advertising pricing page states "$301 to $5,000 per month" as what most businesses pay, and says its services begin at $750/month. KlientBoost publishes example engagements on its site at $3,000/month (CRO and landing pages) and $6,000/month (Google Ads at scale) — examples, not a rate card. Everyone else in the top tier — Disruptive Advertising, Solutions 8, SmartSites, JumpFly, Tinuiti, Directive — publishes no pricing and quotes per engagement.
What Clutch profiles reveal
| Agency | Clutch minimum project size | Clutch hourly band | Notes (their own claims) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Disruptive Advertising | $5,000+ | $150–$199/hr | States $450M+ annual managed ad spend |
| Solutions 8 | $5,000+ | $100–$149/hr | Claims $300M+ client earnings |
| JumpFly | $5,000+ | $50–$99/hr | Intake form segments by spend, up to $3K through $150K+ |
| KlientBoost | $1,000+ | $100–$149/hr | Publishes $3K and $6K/mo example engagements |
| SmartSites | $1,000+ | $100–$149/hr | Claims $100M+ client revenue |
| WebFX | $1,000+ | not disclosed | Own page: "$301–$5,000/mo"; services from $750/mo |
All Clutch figures accessed August 2026 from each agency's profile. The market anchors that sit behind all of it: typical PPC agency retainers run $1,500–$5,000/month, or 10–20% of ad spend, often on 3–12 month contracts. The percentage model deserves the closest read — at 15% of spend, growing your budget from $10K to $30K/month raises the fee from $1,500 to $4,500 with no renegotiation. Our guide to flat-fee versus percentage models works through why the model matters more than the number.
Disclosure, placed where the comparison starts involving us: Ryze AI publishes this guide and sells in two of the four lanes — software at $89/month flat and managed tiers at $599–$1,499/month, never a percentage of spend. The test this page recommends applies to us too: compute fee ÷ monthly ad spend for every lane at your actual budget, add the hours each option leaves on your desk, and let a 7-day free trial or a short contract settle what the math can't.
Lane 3: what PPC software costs
The only lane where nearly every seller publishes a price. Entry list prices, from the vendors' own pages, August 2026.
| Tool | Entry price | Model | What you get |
|---|---|---|---|
| Adzooma | Free; $69/$179 | Flat | Opportunity suggestions across Google/Microsoft/Meta; you apply them |
| Birch (ex-Revealbot) | $49; $99 Pro | Flat to $10K spend, then scales | Rules automation for Meta/Google/Snapchat/TikTok; 14-day trial |
| Madgicx | from ~$55 | Spend-tiered | Meta-first AI audiences and creative insights; 7-day trial |
| Ryze AI (our product) | $89 flat | Flat at any spend | Autonomous execution — builds campaigns, writes copy, shifts budgets across Google, Meta, TikTok, LinkedIn; 7-day free trial |
| Opteo | $129/$249/$499 | Flat within caps | Google Ads suggestions with one-click apply; human decides |
| Adalysis | from ~$149 | Spend-tiered | Continuous audits and ad testing; unlimited accounts and users |
| Optmyzr | from ~$208 (annual) | Spend-tiered | The deepest rule engine and scripts; 14-day trial |
| TrueClicks | Free to $50K spend; from $249 | ~0.25% of spend | Continuous auditing; flags work, does not execute |
The lane's structural catch: most of these tools produce recommendations, and recommendations are work. If applying a suggestion queue takes someone five hours a month at $60/hr, a $69 tool truly costs $369 — which is why the execution subset matters. Birch executes the rules you script, and Ryze AI decides and executes on its own (our honest cons: less granular manual control than a point tool, a baseline learning period, and a younger brand than the legacy suites). Full tier-by-tier breakdowns: Optmyzr, Opteo, TrueClicks.

Lane 4: what managed AI costs
The newest lane: AI does the execution, humans supervise, and the fee is flat. Two published price points define it.
groas: $999 per product
groas publishes $999/month for its Paid Search product — Google Ads and ChatGPT Ads, covering up to $15,000/month in ad spend, with a dedicated human strategist, a Slack channel, and landing pages and creative included; its separate Organic Search product is another $999. That is real delegation at roughly a third of a comparable agency retainer, with two scope limits worth knowing: no Meta, TikTok or LinkedIn, and custom pricing once you pass the $15K spend cap. Full fee math in our groas pricing breakdown.
Ryze AI's managed tiers: $599 and $1,499 (disclosure: ours)
Our own managed lane, stated plainly because we sell it: Traffic Printer at $599/month adds senior strategists on top of the autonomous software for SEO/GEO work, and Ecom Autopilot at $1,499/month is the full-service ecommerce tier — both flat, no contracts, cancel anytime, and the underlying $89 software executes across Google, Meta, TikTok and LinkedIn either way. The comparison a buyer should actually run: groas $999 versus an agency at $2,000–$3,000 versus a managed tier at $599–$1,499, each divided by your monthly spend, each checked for which channels it actually covers. Plan details on our pricing page and in Ryze AI pricing explained.
The break-even math: where each lane wins
Divide every fee by monthly ad spend and the four lanes stop competing everywhere and start winning specific brackets.
| Monthly ad spend | Software fee as % of spend | Freelancer (10 hrs @ $75) | Managed AI ($999) | Agency ($2,500 or 15%) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| $2,000 | Ryze AI $89 = 4.5% · Birch $49 = 2.5% | $750 = 37.5% | $999 = 50% | $2,500 = 125% |
| $7,500 | $89 = 1.2% · Opteo $129 = 1.7% | $750 = 10% | $999 = 13.3% | $2,500 = 33% |
| $15,000 | $89 = 0.6% · Optmyzr ~$208 = 1.4% | $750–$1,500 = 5–10% | $999 = 6.7% (at groas's cap) | $2,250–$2,500 = 15–17% |
| $30,000 | $89 = 0.3% · tiered tools re-price | $1,500+ = 5%+ | custom above groas's cap | $3,000–$4,500 = 10–15% |
| $75,000 | $89 = 0.12% | hours no longer scale — you're hiring | custom | $7,500–$11,250 = 10–15% |
The three break-even points that matter
First: below about $3,000/month, only software keeps management under 10% of budget — every human lane costs a third to all of your media budget again, and most large agencies' $5,000+ Clutch minimums exclude you anyway. Second: between roughly $5,000 and $15,000/month, delegation becomes affordable — a freelancer at 10 hours or managed AI at $999 both land near 7–13% of spend, well under the 15–50% an agency retainer represents there. Third: from about $15,000–$25,000/month upward, agency retainers finally fall to their defensible 10–15% band — which is exactly where you should compare what those thousands buy against a managed-AI flat fee plus the hours difference. What never changes across brackets: flat software is a rounding error at scale, and percentage-of-spend deals are the only lane whose fee grows automatically with your success. The full software-versus-agency argument is in our price map, and what bad management itself costs explains why the biggest number here is usually none of these fees.

Frequently asked questions
How much does PPC management cost in 2026?
By lane: software runs $49–$249/month at published entry prices, freelancers bill hourly (roughly $50–$100/hr for experienced independents, so $500–$1,500/month at typical hours), agencies charge $1,500–$5,000/month retainers or 10–20% of ad spend, and managed-AI services run $599–$1,499/month flat. Your monthly ad spend determines which lane's fee is proportionate.
How much does a PPC freelancer cost per month?
There is no published rate card. Anchored to agency hourly bands on Clutch ($50–$199/hr), experienced independents typically quote $50–$100/hr. At 5–8 hours a month that is $300–$800; active management at 10–15 hours runs $600–$1,500. Freelancers' real advantage is taking small accounts that agencies with $5,000+ minimums decline.
How much does a PPC agency charge per month?
Typical retainers run $1,500–$5,000/month or 10–20% of ad spend. WebFX's own pricing page states "$301 to $5,000 per month" for most businesses with its services starting at $750/month, and KlientBoost publishes example engagements at $3,000 and $6,000/month. Most agencies publish nothing and quote per engagement.
What are typical PPC agency minimums?
Per their Clutch profiles (accessed August 2026): Disruptive Advertising, Solutions 8 and JumpFly list $5,000+ minimum project sizes; KlientBoost, SmartSites and WebFX list $1,000+. Below those thresholds, the practical options are freelancers, software from $49–$249/month, or managed-AI services — the large-agency lane simply is not available.
What is managed-AI PPC and what does it cost?
AI executes the account while humans supervise, at a flat fee. groas publishes $999/month per product (Google Ads and ChatGPT Ads, up to $15,000/month spend, dedicated strategist). Ryze AI — our product, disclosed — offers human-strategist tiers at $599 and $1,499/month flat on top of its $89 autonomous software. Both undercut typical agency retainers.
Is a freelancer cheaper than a PPC agency?
At light hours, yes — $300–$800/month versus $1,500+ retainers. At active engagement levels (10–15+ hours), a good freelancer costs about what an entry retainer costs. The freelancer trade is flexibility and no minimum against single-person coverage risk; the agency trade is a team and accountability against contracts and higher fees.
When does percentage-of-spend pricing become expensive?
Immediately as you scale: at 15% of spend, a $10,000/month budget pays $1,500 but a $30,000 budget pays $4,500 — a $3,000 raise triggered by growth, not performance. Flat fees invert this: $89–$999 flat shrinks as a share of every new dollar of spend. Prefer flat or capped fees when you expect to grow.
What should I buy at under $3,000 a month in ad spend?
Software. Every human lane costs 25–125% of your media budget at this size, and several large agencies' $5,000+ minimums exclude the account anyway. Free tiers (Adzooma, TrueClicks under $50K spend) plus flat tools at $49–$89 keep management under 5% of budget — the rest of the money belongs in media.
At what spend level is a PPC agency worth it?
Roughly $15,000–$25,000/month and up, where a $2,250–$3,750 retainer falls into the defensible 10–15% band and the agency's bundled hours, creative and accountability have room to pay for themselves. Below that, the same retainer is 20–125% of budget, and freelancers, software or managed-AI flat fees carry the account for far less.
Do PPC software prices include the work?
Mostly no — that is the lane's catch. Suggestion and audit tools (Adzooma, Opteo, Adalysis, Optmyzr, TrueClicks) produce queues a human still applies; five hours a month at $60/hr adds $300 to any sticker. The exceptions execute: Birch runs the rules you script, and Ryze AI (ours, disclosed) decides and executes autonomously at $89/month flat.
How does groas pricing compare with an agency?
groas publishes $999/month for Paid Search — Google Ads and ChatGPT Ads up to $15,000/month spend, with a dedicated human strategist and creative included. That is roughly a third of a comparable $2,500–$3,000 agency retainer. The limits: no Meta, TikTok or LinkedIn coverage, and pricing goes custom above the $15,000 spend cap.
What is the cheapest way to get PPC management in 2026?
Free tools first: Adzooma's free plan and TrueClicks' free auditing under $50,000 in monthly spend cost nothing. The cheapest paid execution is Birch at $49/month (rules on Pro at $99) and Ryze AI at $89/month flat — our product, disclosed, with a 7-day free trial. Cheapest human help is a freelancer at a few hours a month.
