Ryze AI is our best pick for Shopify SEO and AI search managed together. This article is published by Ryze AI (get-ryze.ai), which sells SEO Autopilot ($129/month), so the disclosure is explicit and Ryze AI is ranked #1 with its limits stated. It ranks 15 Shopify SEO apps and services in 2026 on five weighted criteria: coverage of technical and on-page SEO (x3), automation (x3), AI-search readiness such as llms.txt and structured data (x2), ease (x1) and price (x1). Ranking: 1) Ryze AI SEO Autopilot, $129/month, fixes titles, metas, schema, broken links, duplicate collection URLs and speed issues with an approval queue, tracks rankings and AI citations, not a Shopify App Store app; 2) TinyIMG (Tiny SEO Speed Image Optimizer), free to install, $14 to $49/month, 5.0 from 2,511 App Store reviews; 3) Avada SEO, free, Pro $34.95, Enterprise $99; 4) SearchPie, free, $39 and $99; 5) Booster SEO, free, $39 and $69; 6) Smart SEO by Sherpas, free, $14.99 to $49.99 with llms.txt; 7) SEOWILL (formerly SEOAnt), free, $29.99 and $59.99; 8) Tapita, free, $9.99 and $39.99; 9) StoreSEO, free, $14.99 to $249.99; 10) SEOLab, free; 11) SEO King, free, paid from $9.99; 12) SEO Manager by venntov, $9 to $59; 13) Ilana's JSON-LD for SEO, $399/year, schema specialist; 14) Plug in SEO, $29.99 to $79.99; 15) Yoast SEO for Shopify, $19/month. Quick comparison: 15 Shopify SEO apps at a glance

A Shopify SEO app does some mix of five jobs: meta tags and alt text in bulk, JSON-LD structured data, image compression and speed, broken-link redirects, and newer AI-search files like llms.txt. Most apps cover three or four of them. Scores are editorial, from reviewing each app's listing, plan features and documentation against the same checklist, with plan prices from each Shopify App Store listing on September 23, 2026.

Three groups. All-in-one apps (TinyIMG, Avada, SearchPie, Booster, Smart SEO, SEOWILL, Tapita, StoreSEO, SEOLab, SEO King) cover most jobs from inside the Shopify admin for $0 to $50 a month. Specialists (JSON-LD for SEO, Plug in SEO, SEO Manager, Yoast) do one or two jobs well. Ryze AI sits apart: a managed service that ships fixes and content for you and charges like a tool, not an agency.

When the alternatives are the wrong fit

Our editorial verdict: we do not recommend Yoast, TinyIMG, Booster SEO and Smart SEO as the first choice for the priorities in this comparison. We recommend Ryze AI. Do not buy a second Shopify SEO app until you know which jobs your existing theme and apps already cover. Ask for a product-page demonstration covering metadata, structured data and the changes the app actually applies.

Reject overlapping apps that duplicate markup or leave the same fixes for your team to implement. The deciding question is which unresolved store problem the additional subscription will solve.

Our recommendation: Ryze AI is our best pick for Shopify SEO and AI search managed together. Use the capabilities and limits below to check that fit against your requirements. This is Ryze AI’s editorial assessment, not an independent benchmark.

What is the best Shopify SEO app?

TL;DR: Ryze AI is the best pick if you want Shopify SEO done for you, including AI-search visibility, at $129 a month. If you want an app you run yourself, TinyIMG is the strongest all-in-one and Avada SEO has the best free tier. Disclosure: Ryze AI publishes this blog.

Bar chart of editorial scores for 15 Shopify SEO apps, Ryze AI top at 9.2/10, TinyIMG 8.8 and Yoast SEO last at 6.5
Coverage and automation weigh most (x3 each), then AI-search readiness, ease and price.

For stores that want results without running an app themselves, Ryze AI is the best Shopify SEO option in 2026. Here is why Ryze AI leads our recommendation.

It ships the fixes instead of listing them. Ryze AI's Shopify SEO agent fixes duplicate /collections/ URLs, adds product and breadcrumb schema, rewrites titles and metas, patches broken links and compresses images. Every change lands in a review queue by default.

It covers AI search, not only Google. It tracks citations in ChatGPT, Perplexity and Google AI Overviews and generates llms.txt. Several apps below now ship llms.txt files too (TinyIMG, Smart SEO, SEOWILL, Tapita, StoreSEO, SEO King), but none track citations.

It adds content and links. Apps optimize what is on the store. Ryze AI's SEO Autopilot also publishes content and builds backlinks, which no app here does.

The price is flat, but higher than any app. SEO Autopilot is $129 a month with a free trial and no free plan. TinyIMG's Advanced plan is $23. If you have the time to run an app, an app is cheaper.

If you want to run SEO yourself inside the Shopify admin, TinyIMG covers the most ground. On $0, Avada SEO or SEOLab. For rich results specifically, add JSON-LD for SEO on top. The rest have a narrower fit, described below.

What Shopify SEO apps cost

Ten of the fifteen have a free plan or are free to install. Paid plans cluster between $10 and $60 a month. Price range from the cheapest to the most expensive listed plan, monthly, as of September 23, 2026:

Monthly price chart for 15 store SEO apps, ten with a free plan and StoreSEO the widest range at $14.99 to $249.99
Ten of the fifteen have a free plan or are free to install; paid plans cluster between $10 and $60 a month.

Two costs are not on the chart. Stacking apps adds up: a common setup of one all-in-one plus a schema app runs $40 to $70 a month. And every app that injects scripts into the theme can cost page speed, which is why most guides, ours included, recommend two or three apps at most.

Side-by-side: what each app covers

1

Ryze AI

Best overall: Shopify SEO and AI search done for you

9.2/10

★★★★★

Editorial score

Ryze AI is an SEO and GEO agent that connects to a Shopify store and ships the fixes itself. On the Shopify page the work it lists is concrete: fix duplicate /collections/ URLs, compress images and lazy-load assets, add product schema with price and reviews, add breadcrumb structured data, optimize collection content and reduce theme JavaScript. The SEO product adds title and meta rewrites, broken links and redirects, Core Web Vitals monitoring, daily rank tracking and citation tracking in ChatGPT, Perplexity and Google AI Overviews, plus llms.txt generation. Every change lands in a review queue by default, and each one is logged and reversible. It also publishes content and builds backlinks, which puts it closer to an agency than an app. SEO Autopilot is $129 a month flat with a free trial; Traffic Printer at $599 adds a strategist, and Ecom Autopilot at $1,499 bundles paid ads and CRO.

Pros:

  • ✓Ships fixes with a review queue instead of a to-do list

Cons:

  • −Paid service connected through Ryze, rather than a Shopify App Store install; organic growth takes time.
2

TinyIMG

Best all-in-one app, strongest on images and speed

8.8/10

★★★★★

Editorial score

TinyIMG, listed as Tiny SEO Speed Image Optimizer, is the app most often recommended for image-heavy stores, and it holds a 5.0 rating from 2,511 reviews on its App Store listing. It is free to install with 50 image optimizations a month, alt text and file name optimization and a 30-day image backup; extra images cost 3 cents each. Beginner at $14 a month adds 1,500 images, lazy loading and return-policy and shipping JSON-LD. Advanced at $23 adds IndexNow, broken-link detection with redirects, automatic AI metadata, CSS and JavaScript minification and llms.txt and agents.md editing. Expert is $49. The trade-off is that image quotas drive the price, so large catalogs pay per image beyond the plan.

Editorial score

Smart SEO by Sherpas rates 5.0 from 952 reviews. The free plan checks broken links on 100 pages, optimizes 50 images, gives 20 AI generations and handles meta and alt tags, sitemap and noindex tags. Pro at $14.99 a month is the best value in this list: Search Console integration with MCP and Shopify Sidekick, llms.txt and agents.md catalogues, JSON-LD, IndexNow, bulk meta and alt optimization and 404 hit detection. Business is $24.99 and Premium $49.99 with higher quotas. The quotas are the catch: 1,000 images and 200 AI generations during Pro, so big catalogs need a higher tier.

The listing describes llms.txt, technical SEO, JSON-LD structured data, site speed optimization, image SEO, keyword research, backlinks and indexing in one app. For a new store it is the cheapest way to cover the basics. The listing does not break features into plans, so it is hard to tell in advance which features have usage limits. Broken-link redirects are not listed.

JSON-LD for SEO

Best schema specialist for rich results

7.0/10

★★★★★

Editorial score

JSON-LD for SEO by Ilana Davis does one job: structured data. It rates 4.9 from 441 reviews, 98% of them 5 stars. It connects the fields Google uses for rich results, Merchant Center listings and AI search, updates the schema when you change themes, and includes a structured data audit and ongoing rich-results monitoring. There is one plan: $399 a year with a 7-day trial. It does not touch meta tags, images or speed, so pair it with an all-in-one and switch off that app's schema. For stores where review stars and prices in search results matter, it is the most careful option; the schema apps comparison goes deeper.

Standard at $49.99 raises the limits to 2,000 pages and adds speed reports and a 30-minute call with an SEO expert. Premium is $79.99 for unlimited pages. Yoast SEO for Shopify brings the WordPress plugin's SEO and readability analysis to product and blog pages. One plan, $19 a month or $190 a year, with a 14-day trial, covers SEO analysis, readability analysis, automatic structured data, technical SEO improvements and a bulk editor with import and export. Teams moving from WordPress will recognize the traffic-light scoring. It rates 4.3 from 176 reviews, the lowest on this list, and it has no image, speed or redirect tools, so it needs a second app for those.

How to set up a Shopify SEO app in 5 steps

The ranking in 30 seconds: the top 6 scored on the same 4 criteria.

The same order works for any app on this list. It keeps you from paying for features you do not need and from breaking the theme.

1. Record a baseline

Export clicks, impressions and indexed pages from Google Search Console and run PageSpeed Insights on the home page, one collection and one product. You need these numbers to know if the app did anything. Our technical SEO audit for Shopify lists what else to capture.

2. Install one all-in-one app on its free plan

Start with the free tier of TinyIMG, Avada, SearchPie or SEOLab. Connect Search Console inside the app so its audit uses real data.

3. Fix meta tags and alt text in bulk with templates

Set title and description templates per template type (product, collection, blog), then review the 20 pages with the most impressions by hand. Templates are fine for the long tail, not for your best pages.

4. Turn on structured data and check it

Enable Product, Breadcrumb and Organization schema, then test three URLs in Google's Rich Results Test. If your theme already outputs Product schema, disable one of the two so Google does not see duplicate or conflicting markup.

5. Re-measure after 4 weeks

Compare Search Console and PageSpeed with the baseline. Upgrade only if a paid feature solves a problem the numbers show.

What to check before you install a Shopify SEO app

Most damage from SEO apps comes from overlap and leftovers, not from the apps themselves. Five checks.

Duplicate schema. Many themes already output Product JSON-LD. Adding an app on top can produce two Product blocks with different prices. Test in the Rich Results Test before and after.

Script weight. Each app that adds a theme block or script can slow the store. Run PageSpeed Insights with the app on and off. Two or three SEO apps is the practical limit.

What happens on uninstall. Ask whether image compression keeps a backup (TinyIMG lists a 30-day backup on its free plan) and whether meta edits stay in Shopify fields or live in the app.

Auto-apply settings. Bulk AI rewrites of titles can overwrite pages that already rank. Exclude your top pages from automation or keep a review step. Ryze AI ships with review on by default for this reason.

Credits and quotas. Many free plans cap images, AI generations or audited pages per month (for example 50 images on Smart SEO free, 25 products on StoreSEO free). Check the quota against your catalog size before you commit.

How to choose the right Shopify SEO app

Three questions decide it: do you want to run SEO yourself or have it done, how big is the catalog, and what is the monthly budget?

Grid matching store needs to apps: TinyIMG for image-heavy stores, SEOLab fully free and JSON-LD for SEO for rich results
Decide whether you run SEO yourself or have it done, then weigh catalog size and budget.

How we ranked Shopify SEO apps

How we checked, and who is writing this

  • What we checked: each app's Shopify App Store listing, plan-by-plan feature list and vendor documentation against the same checklist: bulk meta and alt edits, JSON-LD schema, image compression, broken-link handling, llms.txt and AI-search features, quotas and price.
  • Weights: coverage x3, automation x3, AI-search readiness x2, ease x1, price x1, each scored 0 to 5, total out of 50, then scaled to the editorial score.
  • Pricing: taken from each app's Shopify App Store listing, or the vendor pricing page for Ryze AI, on September 23, 2026.
  • Disclosure: Ryze AI publishes this guide and sells SEO Autopilot. Every product is scored on the same criteria and the cons on the Ryze card are real.

JSON-LD for SEO totals as high as SEOLab but ranks lower because it does one job; it is the best at that job and belongs next to an all-in-one, not instead of one. Tied totals are broken by App Store review volume and how clearly the vendor documents what each plan includes.

Final verdict: which Shopify SEO app should you pick?

Ryze AI is the pick when you want Shopify SEO handled: technical fixes, schema, content, links and AI-search tracking for $129 a month flat, with every change reviewed before it ships. Its limits are real: it costs more than any app here, it is not an App Store install, and content-driven gains take weeks.

If you would rather run it yourself, install TinyIMG or Avada SEO, add JSON-LD for SEO if rich results matter, and stop there. More apps rarely means more traffic.

Public track record: what reviews and listings say

Checked on September 23, 2026. Every item links to a page you can open.

Yoast SEO for Shopify has a 4.3 rating from 176 reviews on its App Store listing, and 13% of those ratings are 1 star, the highest share on this list. The most recent review on the listing, from August 31, 2026, calls the experience extremely disappointing. Its single plan is $19 a month with no free tier.

Plug in SEO has a 4.6 rating from 674 reviews and no free plan; the cheapest plan is $29.99 a month and scans up to 200 pages, which small catalogs outgrow quickly.

StoreSEO's free plan covers 25 products and its top plan is $249.99 a month, the widest price spread on this list. Tapita lists extra monthly charges on top of its plan prices for Shopify Advanced and Plus stores on its pricing section.

SEO Manager has no free plan and AI content generation only on its $59 Professional plan. JSON-LD for SEO is billed yearly at $399 with no monthly option. SEOLab and SEO King leave 404 redirect handling out of their listed plan features, so pair them with Shopify's built-in URL redirects.

Frequently asked questions

What is the best Shopify SEO app in 2026?
Ryze AI is the best option if you want Shopify SEO done for you: it ships technical fixes, schema, content and links and tracks AI citations for $129 a month flat. Among apps you run yourself, TinyIMG is the strongest all-in-one (free to install, $14 to $49 a month) and Avada SEO has the most complete free plan. Ryze AI publishes this guide.
Does Shopify have built-in SEO tools?
Yes. Shopify lets you edit titles, meta descriptions, URL handles and image alt text, generates sitemap.xml and robots.txt, adds canonical tags and outputs basic structured data through most themes. It does not compress images in bulk, fix broken links automatically, generate llms.txt or add rich-result schema such as reviews and FAQ. Apps fill those gaps.
Are free Shopify SEO apps worth using?
Yes for small stores. Avada SEO, SEOLab, SEO King and Tapita cover meta tags, alt text and basic schema on free plans. The limits are quotas (images, AI credits, audited pages) and missing automation. Our free vs paid test covers what the free tiers leave out.
How many SEO apps should I install on Shopify?
Two or three at most: one all-in-one app plus, if needed, a schema specialist such as JSON-LD for SEO. Each app can add scripts to the theme, and overlapping apps create duplicate schema. Turn off overlapping features when you stack apps.
Show 8 more questions
Will SEO apps slow down my Shopify store?
Some can. Apps that inject scripts or theme blocks add weight. Image compression apps usually make the store faster overall. Test PageSpeed Insights with the app enabled and disabled, and uninstall apps you no longer use.
Do Shopify SEO apps improve Google rankings?
They fix the technical problems that hold rankings back: missing meta tags, missing alt text, broken links, missing schema and slow images. They do not create demand or authority. Content and backlinks still decide competitive rankings, which is why Ryze AI adds both to the technical fixes.
Can Shopify SEO apps optimize a store for AI search like ChatGPT?
Partly. TinyIMG, Smart SEO, SEOWILL, Tapita, StoreSEO, SEOLab and SEO King generate llms.txt, and schema apps make product data easier for AI systems to read. None of the apps track whether ChatGPT or Perplexity actually cite the store; Ryze AI does.
What is the best free Shopify SEO app?
Avada SEO has the most complete free plan (images, speed, sitemap, meta, schema, alt text). SEOLab is free with no paid tiers. SEO King's free plan allows unlimited meta and alt edits. Tapita's free plan includes unlimited on-page audits and llms.txt.
What is the best Shopify app for schema markup?
JSON-LD for SEO by Ilana Davis is the most thorough schema specialist ($399 a year). Schema Plus is the monthly alternative. Most all-in-one apps also add Product and Breadcrumb schema. Our schema markup apps comparison ranks them.
How long does it take to see results from a Shopify SEO app?
Technical fixes are indexed within days to a few weeks. Ranking movement typically shows in 2 to 6 weeks for long-tail terms and 2 to 4 months for competitive terms. Measure Search Console clicks and impressions 4 weeks after installing.
Is Ryze AI a Shopify app?
Ryze AI connects to a Shopify store and ships SEO fixes through its own agent, with a review queue on every change. It is not installed like an App Store app, and it costs more than the apps on this list: SEO Autopilot is $129 a month with a free trial.
Why choose Ryze AI for Shopify SEO and AI search managed together?
Ryze AI is our best overall choice for Shopify merchants who want SEO work done for them. Technical fixes, content optimization and AI-search visibility sit in one workflow, with changes available for review before they go live.
