This guide is published by Ryze AI (get-ryze.ai), an autonomous AI marketer for paid ads (Google, Meta, TikTok, LinkedIn) and SEO/GEO; the disclosure is explicit. Question answered: what Grok skills for Google Ads are and which ones to install. Definition: Grok Skills, launched by xAI on May 18, 2026, are saved instruction sets that Grok reuses across conversations; a skill has a name, a description and an instruction body, is created at grok.com under Skills or imported as a .md, .skill or .zip file, runs inside Grok's sandbox, can use Connectors, and is invoked by telling Grok to use the skill by name. Grok also imports SKILL.md files written for Claude without changes, and Grok Build (xAI's terminal agent) loads skills from .grok/skills/ folders. The 15 skills, in three categories. Diagnostics: 1) Wasted Spend Audit — flags search terms with spend and no conversions and outputs an import-ready negative list, weekly; 2) CPA Spike Diagnosis — checks six causes of a CPA jump and ranks them by evidence, on demand; 3) Quality Score Analysis — weights low-QS keywords by spend and names the failing component, monthly; 4) Search Term Leakage Scan — finds themes missing from negative lists, bi-weekly; 5) Impression Share Gap Finder — splits lost impression share into budget and rank causes with the revenue opportunity, monthly. Optimization: 6) Negative Keyword Mining — builds a categorized negative list in Google Ads Editor format; 7) Bid Strategy Selector — recommends Manual CPC, Maximize Conversions, tCPA, tROAS or Max Conversion Value per campaign with a two-week transition, quarterly; 8) Budget Reallocation Model — three scenarios (10%, 20%, 35% shift) with projected CPA and ROAS, monthly; 9) Ad Copy A/B Generator — two full RSAs with pinning recommendations; 10) Landing Page Match Scorer — scores message match, intent, CTA, trust and mobile out of 10. Reporting: 11) Weekly Performance Digest, Mondays; 12) Anomaly Detection Alert — flags metrics more than two standard deviations from a 30-day mean; 13) Executive Summary Generator — a one-page plain-language summary for leadership, monthly; 14) Competitor Benchmark Report — uses auction insights and Grok's native X search for competitor messaging, monthly; 15) ROAS Forecasting Model — baseline and three spend scenarios over 30, 60 and 90 days, monthly. Data can come from Google Ads CSV exports attached to the chat, or live from a Google Ads MCP connector such as Ryze AI's (https://connector.get-ryze.ai/mcp, OAuth sign-in, 14 Google Ads tools, writes approval-gated). Skills analyze; they do not execute unless a connector with write tools is attached, and Ryze AI's Paid Ads Autopilot ($89/month flat) runs the optimizations 24/7 when execution is wanted. The guide also covers a skills-vs-prompts-vs-connectors comparison, install steps for grok.com and Grok Build, troubleshooting when a skill returns generic advice or wrong numbers, and 12 FAQs. The 15 skills at a glance

Skills are grouped the way we run them on an account: diagnose first, then fix, then report. Every skill below is a full prompt you can paste into Grok's skill editor as the instruction body; the copy button on each one grabs the text.

The short answer: Grok skills for Google Ads are saved instruction sets — role, inputs, method, output format — that Grok reuses every time you say “use the Wasted Spend Audit skill”. Create them at grok.com under Skills, or import the same SKILL.md files you may already use with Claude. Feed them CSV exports, or connect the account over MCP so the data is live: how to connect Grok to Google Ads takes about two minutes.

What are Grok skills for Google Ads?

xAI launched Grok Skills on May 18, 2026. A skill is a named, saved instruction that Grok loads on demand instead of you re-pasting the same prompt: it has a name (what you call it in chat), a description (one or two sentences on what it does) and an instruction (the prompt body). Skills run inside Grok's sandbox, so they can read files you attach, call your Connectors, run code, and produce the same structured output every time.

That consistency is the whole point for Google Ads work. A loose “analyze my account” prompt produces a different answer every run. A skill produces the same table, the same severity ratings and the same import-ready output whether you run it today or a teammate runs it in three months. The 15 skills below are the ones we run on accounts spending $25K–$200K a month; they are the same operating loop as our Claude skills for Google Ads, and the files are interchangeable.

Skills vs prompts vs connectors: which one do you need?

The working setup for most accounts is skills plus a connector: the 15 skills define the analysis, and the connection keeps the data fresh so you never export another CSV. If you take one thing from this section: do not judge Grok on one-off prompts. The gap between a vague prompt and a structured skill is bigger than the gap between any two AI models.

How to install a Google Ads skill in Grok

Three ways in, from easiest to most technical. All three end with the same skill available by name in every chat.

1. Create it in the skill editor (any plan with Skills)

Open grok.com, go to Skills, and click to create a new skill. Fill the three fields: Name (for example, Wasted Spend Audit), Description (one sentence — Grok uses it to decide when the skill applies), and Instruction — paste the prompt from the card below. Save. In any chat, type “use the Wasted Spend Audit skill on the attached search terms export” and attach the CSV.

2. Import a file

Grok accepts .md, .skill and .zip uploads through the Import control on the Skills page. A plain Markdown file whose body is the prompt is enough; a SKILL.md with YAML frontmatter (name, description) written for Claude imports unchanged. Our 30 marketing skills are downloadable at get-ryze.ai/claude-openclaw-clawdbot-skills and load into Grok as-is.

3. Grok Build (terminal)

Grok Build, xAI's open-source coding agent, discovers skills from ./.grok/skills/<name>/SKILL.md in the repo or ~/.grok/skills/ globally, and every user-invocable skill becomes a slash command (/wasted-spend-audit). It also reads existing Claude Code skill folders, so a team already running skills for Claude gets them in Grok Build with zero re-wiring. Requires a SuperGrok or X Premium+ subscription.

Skills analyze; connectors act. A skill on its own reads what you attach. Pair it with a Google Ads MCP connector and the same skill pulls live data — and, if the connector has write tools, can propose the change for your approval. Setup: how to connect Grok to Google Ads.

Diagnostic skills: find what's broken

Diagnostic skills answer one question: what is going wrong in my account? Run these first. The average Google Ads account has three to five diagnosable issues at any time, and most go unnoticed for weeks. Run all five once when you adopt this system, then put the Wasted Spend Audit and the Impression Share Gap Finder on a recurring cadence.

01 · Wasted Spend Audit

Scans your search terms report and flags every term that spent money without converting, then outputs a prioritized negative keyword list with estimated monthly savings. To run it: in Google Ads, go to Insights and reports → Search terms, set the range to the last 30 days, enable all columns, download the CSV, attach it and say “use the Wasted Spend Audit skill”. Good output is a table sorted by spend with a specific reason next to every flagged term; if the reasons feel generic, the export is missing columns. Sanity-check the top ten rows by spend before importing — a term with no conversions in 30 days may still assist on long sales cycles. Cadence: weekly.

Skill instruction
You are a senior Google Ads analyst specializing in waste reduction. Analyze my search terms report (attached, or pulled live through the Google Ads connector) and identify: 1. Search terms with $25+ spend and zero conversions 2. Search terms irrelevant to [YOUR PRODUCT/SERVICE] 3. Search terms with CTR below 1% and 100+ impressions 4. Duplicate/overlapping search terms cannibalizing each other For each flagged term, provide: - The search term - Spend to date - Impressions and clicks - Why it should be negative (irrelevant, low-intent, duplicate) - Recommended match type (exact, phrase, or broad negative) Output as a table sorted by spend (highest first). End with: total recoverable spend/month and a ready-to-import negative keyword list.

02 · CPA Spike Diagnosis

Identifies the root cause when cost per acquisition jumps. CPA spikes have six common causes — audience saturation, bid strategy changes, competitor entry, landing page issues, seasonal shifts and Quality Score drops — and the skill checks all six in one pass so the evidence sits side by side. Read the output bottom-up: the ranked diagnosis is the headline, but the evidence lines tell you whether Grok is reasoning from your numbers. Include both the spike period and a baseline period. Cadence: on demand, the day CPA moves.

Skill instruction
You are a PPC diagnostician. My CPA increased by [X%] in the last [TIME PERIOD]. Analyze my campaign performance data (attached or live) and diagnose the spike by checking: 1. Bid strategy changes — did automated bidding shift targets? 2. Search term drift — are new irrelevant queries entering? 3. Quality Score drops — which keywords lost QS points and why? 4. Competitor activity — impression share changes suggesting new entrants 5. Landing page issues — conversion rate changes by device/campaign 6. Audience changes — demographic or geographic shifts in who's clicking For each potential cause found, provide: - Severity (Critical / High / Medium / Low) - Evidence from the data - Specific fix with expected CPA impact - Timeline to implement Output a ranked diagnosis with the most likely cause first.

03 · Quality Score Analysis

Breaks Quality Score into its components — expected CTR, ad relevance, landing page experience — across all keywords and weights every low-QS keyword by monthly spend, so the top of the list is where a fix changes your bill. Match the fix to the failing component: expected CTR means the ad promise is weak, ad relevance usually means the ad group is too broad, landing page experience sends you to skill 10. Export keywords with the QS columns enabled. Cadence: monthly.

Skill instruction
You are a Quality Score optimization specialist for Google Ads. Analyze my keyword report (attached or live) with Quality Score data and provide: 1. Distribution: how many keywords are at QS 1-3, 4-6, 7-10 2. Revenue impact: estimated cost savings if all QS 1-6 keywords reached QS 7 3. Component breakdown: for each low-QS keyword, which component is "Below Average" (Expected CTR, Ad Relevance, or Landing Page Experience) 4. Priority fixes: top 10 keywords where QS improvement would save the most money 5. Ad group restructuring: suggest tighter ad group themes where keyword-to-ad relevance is weak For each priority keyword, provide: - Current QS and components - Monthly spend and CPC - Specific recommendation (rewrite ad, restructure ad group, update landing page) - Estimated CPC reduction from fixing Sort by potential monthly savings (highest first).

04 · Search Term Leakage Scan

Goes deeper than the Wasted Spend Audit by finding patterns — systematic gaps in your negative lists that let irrelevant traffic through repeatedly. Skill 01 blocks individual terms that already cost money; this one blocks the theme so the next hundred variants never match. Pay attention to the brand-contamination check: branded searches leaking into non-brand campaigns inflate their reported performance and mislead every budget decision built on top. Attach both the search terms report and your existing negative lists. Cadence: bi-weekly.

Skill instruction
You are a search term analyst for Google Ads. Analyze my search terms report and current negative keyword lists (both attached, or pulled live). Find systematic leakage patterns: 1. Theme clusters: group irrelevant search terms into themes (e.g., "free," "jobs," "DIY," competitor names) 2. Missing negatives: for each theme, list specific negative keywords that would block the entire cluster 3. Match type gaps: broad match keywords triggering distant semantic matches 4. Cross-campaign bleed: same search terms appearing in multiple campaigns 5. Brand term contamination: non-brand campaigns capturing branded searches For each pattern found, provide: - Theme name and example search terms (top 5 by spend) - Total spend on this theme (last 30 days) - Recommended negative keywords with match types - Which campaigns/ad groups to apply them to Output a negative keyword implementation plan sorted by spend impact.

05 · Impression Share Gap Finder

The growth-side diagnostic: the other four find waste, this one finds volume you are not buying. The budget-vs-rank split is the decision that matters — IS lost to budget is fixed with money (skill 08 tells you where to take it from), IS lost to rank is fixed with Quality Score and bids, and no budget increase helps. Take the deprioritize bucket seriously: a campaign with a weak conversion rate and 40% lost IS is a hole, not an opportunity. Include the impression share columns, which are hidden by default. Cadence: monthly.

Skill instruction
You are a Google Ads impression share strategist. Analyze my campaign data (attached or live) with impression share metrics and identify: 1. Campaigns losing IS due to budget (search IS lost to budget %) 2. Campaigns losing IS due to rank (search IS lost to rank %) 3. Revenue opportunity: for each campaign, estimate additional conversions if IS reached 90% 4. Budget needed: calculate the incremental daily budget to capture lost budget-based IS 5. Rank fixes: for rank-based IS loss, identify whether the issue is bid level, QS, or ad relevance Provide a prioritized action plan: - Quick wins: campaigns where a small budget increase captures significant IS - Optimization targets: campaigns where QS/ad improvements would recover IS without more spend - Deprioritize: campaigns where the IS gap isn't worth closing (low conversion rate, high CPA) Include estimated incremental conversions and cost for each recommendation.

Optimization skills: fix what's broken

Optimization skills take what the diagnostics found and turn it into a change you can apply — a negative list in Editor format, a bid strategy with a transition plan, a budget model with three scenarios. Every one of these assumes you know which problem you are fixing and roughly what it costs per month.

06 · Negative Keyword Mining

Builds a comprehensive negative list from five sources — actual search terms, industry non-buyer terms, semantic near-misses, competitor brands and out-of-area geography — and formats it for Google Ads Editor. Run it on every new campaign before launch, then bi-weekly. Cadence: per new campaign, then bi-weekly.

Skill instruction
You are a negative keyword specialist for Google Ads. My business: [DESCRIBE YOUR PRODUCT/SERVICE AND TARGET CUSTOMER] My current keywords: [PASTE TOP 20 KEYWORDS OR ATTACH KEYWORD REPORT] My current negatives: [PASTE OR ATTACH EXISTING NEGATIVE LIST] Generate a comprehensive negative keyword list: 1. From search terms data: negatives based on actual irrelevant queries (attach report) 2. Industry negatives: common terms in my industry that indicate non-buyer intent (e.g., "free," "jobs," "salary," "how to become," "DIY") 3. Semantic negatives: terms semantically close to my keywords but wrong intent 4. Competitor brand names I shouldn't bid on (unless intentional) 5. Geographic negatives: location terms outside my service area For each negative keyword provide: - The keyword - Recommended match type (exact, phrase, broad) - Which campaigns to apply it to (all, specific ones, or shared list) - Reason for blocking Group by category. End with an import-ready list formatted for Google Ads Editor.

07 · Bid Strategy Selector

Recommends the right bid strategy per campaign from conversion volume, value variance, budget headroom and auction insights — and insists on a two-week transition rather than a cold switch, which is where most bid-strategy changes go wrong. Cadence: quarterly.

Skill instruction
You are a Google Ads bidding strategist. Analyze my campaign data (attached or live) and recommend the optimal bid strategy for each campaign. For each campaign, evaluate: 1. Current bid strategy and its performance trend (improving, stable, declining) 2. Conversion volume: does this campaign have 30+ conversions/month (required for tCPA) or 50+ (ideal for tROAS)? 3. Conversion value variation: is value consistent or highly variable? 4. Budget headroom: is the campaign budget-constrained? 5. Competitive landscape: what does auction insights suggest? Recommend one of: - Manual CPC (for new campaigns or <15 conversions/month) - Maximize Conversions (for scaling campaigns with uncapped budgets) - Target CPA (for campaigns with 30+ monthly conversions and consistent CPA goals) - Target ROAS (for campaigns with 50+ monthly conversions and value tracking) - Maximize Conversion Value (for ecommerce with variable order values) For each recommendation, provide: - Why this strategy fits (with data evidence) - Recommended target (tCPA or tROAS value) - Transition plan (don't switch cold — ramp over 2 weeks) - Expected performance change (% CPA reduction or conversion increase) - Risk factors and monitoring metrics

08 · Budget Reallocation Model

Ranks campaigns by efficiency, names donors and recipients, and models conservative, moderate and aggressive shifts with projected conversions, blended CPA and ROAS for each. Pair with skill 05 so the recipients are campaigns actually losing impression share to budget. Cadence: monthly.

Skill instruction
You are a budget optimization analyst for Google Ads. My total monthly Google Ads budget: $[AMOUNT] Campaign data attached or live (include: campaign name, spend, conversions, CPA, ROAS, impression share lost to budget). Build a budget reallocation model: 1. Current state: rank all campaigns by efficiency (conversions per dollar) 2. Identify donors: campaigns with high CPA, low ROAS, or declining conversion rates 3. Identify recipients: campaigns with low CPA, high ROAS, and IS lost to budget 4. Model 3 scenarios: - Conservative (shift 10% of total budget) - Moderate (shift 20% of total budget) - Aggressive (shift 35% of total budget) For each scenario, show: - Which campaigns lose budget and how much - Which campaigns gain budget and how much - Projected total conversions (vs. current) - Projected blended CPA (vs. current) - Projected blended ROAS (vs. current) - Risk assessment Output as a table with before/after columns for each scenario. Recommend which scenario to implement and why.

09 · Ad Copy A/B Generator

Writes two complete responsive search ads — 15 headlines and 4 descriptions each, with character limits enforced — one rational, one aspirational, plus pinning recommendations and a hypothesis for why one should win. Feed it your current best headlines so it iterates rather than starting from zero. Cadence: per ad-group refresh.

Skill instruction
You are an expert Google Ads copywriter. My product/service: [DESCRIBE WHAT YOU SELL] Target audience: [WHO BUYS IT] Key differentiators: [WHAT MAKES YOU DIFFERENT] Top keywords for this ad group: [LIST 3-5 KEYWORDS] Current best-performing ad headlines: [PASTE IF AVAILABLE] Competitor ads I've seen: [PASTE IF AVAILABLE] Generate 2 complete RSA variations (Version A and Version B): Each RSA needs: - 15 headlines (30 chars max each): - 3 headlines with primary keyword insertion - 3 headlines with unique value propositions - 3 headlines with social proof / numbers - 3 headlines with urgency / CTA - 3 headlines with benefit-focused messaging - 4 descriptions (90 chars max each): - 1 feature-focused - 1 benefit-focused - 1 social-proof focused - 1 CTA-focused For each RSA, provide: - Pinning recommendations (which headlines to pin to positions 1, 2, 3) - Why this variation should outperform (hypothesis) - Suggested test duration based on expected traffic volume Version A should use a direct/rational approach. Version B should use an emotional/aspirational approach.

10 · Landing Page Match Scorer

Scores the alignment between keyword, ad and landing page on seven criteria, with message match and intent double-weighted, and returns specific rewrites for any page under 7. Grok can fetch the page itself if you give it the URL. Cadence: per landing page, quarterly sweep.

Skill instruction
You are a landing page optimization specialist for Google Ads. Analyze the alignment between my ads and landing pages: - Ad group keywords: [LIST KEYWORDS] - Ad headlines and descriptions: [PASTE CURRENT AD COPY] - Landing page URL: [URL] - Landing page content: [PASTE PAGE TEXT OR FETCH THE URL] Score each landing page on (1-10 scale): 1. Message match: does the headline echo the ad and keyword intent? 2. Keyword presence: are target keywords in H1, subheads, body text? 3. Intent alignment: does the page satisfy what the searcher wanted? 4. CTA clarity: is there one clear next step above the fold? 5. Trust signals: reviews, testimonials, security badges, guarantees? 6. Mobile experience: load speed, layout, tap targets 7. Form friction: number of fields, required info, perceived effort Overall match score: weighted average (message match and intent = 2x weight) For each page scoring below 7, provide: - Specific changes to make (exact headline rewrites, section additions) - Expected QS impact (which component improves) - Expected conversion rate impact - Priority level (Critical / High / Medium)

Reporting skills: communicate results

Reporting skills turn raw Google Ads data into narratives stakeholders can read without follow-up questions. The weekly digest alone saves most teams two to three hours per account per week, and it is the skill that makes the other fourteen visible.

11 · Weekly Performance Digest

Five fixed sections — executive summary, metrics table with week-over-week and month-over-month columns, top and bottom campaigns with data-backed reasons, anomalies, next-week actions — in plain language with real numbers. Attach this week, last week and the same week last month. Cadence: weekly, Monday morning.

Skill instruction
You are a performance marketing analyst writing a weekly report for stakeholders. Data attached or live: this week's campaign performance vs. last week and same week last month. Generate a Weekly Performance Digest with these sections: 1. EXECUTIVE SUMMARY (3 sentences max) - Overall spend, conversions, CPA, ROAS this week - The single biggest win and single biggest concern 2. KEY METRICS TABLE - Columns: Metric | This Week | Last Week | WoW Change | Same Week Last Month | MoM Change - Rows: Spend, Impressions, Clicks, CTR, CPC, Conversions, CPA, Conv. Rate, Revenue, ROAS 3. CAMPAIGN HIGHLIGHTS (top 3 performers and bottom 3) - What changed and why (data-backed explanation, not speculation) 4. ANOMALIES & FLAGS - Any metric that moved more than 15% WoW with possible cause - Any campaign that spent >20% of budget with zero conversions 5. NEXT WEEK ACTION ITEMS (3-5 specific, prioritized tasks) - Each item: what to do, expected impact, who should own it Keep language clear and non-technical. Use actual numbers, not vague descriptions.

12 · Anomaly Detection Alert

A statistical pass over 60 days of daily metrics: rolling mean, standard deviation, anything in the last seven days more than two deviations out, plus slow drifts over 30 days. Runs daily when a connector supplies the data, weekly from exports. Cadence: weekly, daily with MCP.

Skill instruction
You are a statistical anomaly detector for Google Ads accounts. Data attached or live: daily campaign metrics for the last 60 days. For each campaign and each metric (CPC, CTR, CPA, conversion rate, impression share, spend): 1. Calculate the 30-day rolling average and standard deviation 2. Flag any day in the last 7 days where the metric is >2 standard deviations from the mean 3. Identify trends: is the metric gradually shifting (>5% drift over 30 days)? For each anomaly found, provide: - Campaign name and metric affected - Current value vs. 30-day average - How many standard deviations from the mean - Direction (spike up or drop down) - Severity: Critical (>3 SD), Warning (>2 SD), Watch (trend drift) - Likely cause (cross-reference with other metric changes) - Recommended action Output as an alert dashboard sorted by severity (Critical first). End with: "No anomalies detected" for any campaign that is performing within normal bounds.

13 · Executive Summary Generator

One page for leadership: a headline stat, four metrics with trend arrows, what worked and what needs attention in business language, and next month's plan. Under 400 words, no jargon. Cadence: monthly.

Skill instruction
You are writing a Google Ads executive summary for a C-suite audience. Data attached or live: monthly campaign performance data. Business context: [BRIEFLY DESCRIBE THE BUSINESS AND ITS GOALS] Generate a 1-page executive summary: 1. HEADLINE STAT (one sentence, biggest takeaway) Example: "Google Ads generated $127K in revenue at 4.2x ROAS this month — up 18% from last month." 2. PERFORMANCE DASHBOARD (4 key metrics only) - Revenue | Conversions | CPA | ROAS - Each with month-over-month trend arrow and percentage change 3. WHAT WORKED (2-3 bullets, plain language) - Translate PPC metrics into business outcomes - BAD: "CTR improved 0.3 points" / GOOD: "More qualified prospects are clicking our ads" 4. WHAT NEEDS ATTENTION (1-2 bullets) - Business impact framing, not technical details - Include estimated dollar impact of inaction 5. NEXT MONTH'S PLAN (2-3 bullets) - What you'll change and the expected business outcome - Budget recommendation if applicable Keep under 400 words. No jargon. Write like you're emailing the CEO.

14 · Competitor Benchmark Report

The one skill that is better in Grok than anywhere else. It reads your auction insights for overlap, position-above and impression share, then uses Grok's native X search to pull what each competitor is saying and what customers are saying back — messaging you cannot see in Google Ads. Cadence: monthly.

Skill instruction
You are a competitive intelligence analyst for Google Ads. Data attached or live: - My campaign performance data (last 30 days) - Auction insights report (last 30 days) My industry: [YOUR INDUSTRY] Generate a Competitor Benchmark Report: 1. COMPETITIVE LANDSCAPE - Who are my top 5 auction competitors? (from auction insights) - Impression share comparison: me vs. each competitor - Overlap rate and position-above-rate for each 2. PERFORMANCE BENCHMARKING - My CPC vs. industry average for [INDUSTRY] - My CTR vs. industry average - My conversion rate vs. industry average - Verdict: am I above, at, or below benchmark? 3. MESSAGING ON X (use X search) - For each top competitor: their 3 most repeated claims in recent posts - What customers praise or complain about in replies - Any launch, price change or promotion in the last 30 days 4. COMPETITIVE GAPS - Campaigns where competitors consistently outrank me - Time-of-day or device segments where I lose position - Claims competitors make that my ads do not answer 5. STRATEGIC RECOMMENDATIONS - Where to increase aggression (I'm close to winning) - Where to defend (competitors gaining share) - Where to retreat (not cost-effective to compete) Include estimated budget needed to close the top 3 competitive gaps.

15 · ROAS Forecasting Model

From 60–90 days of daily data: seasonality, the ROAS decay curve as spend rises, a baseline forecast with confidence bands, and three spend scenarios with the diminishing-returns threshold. Give it planned changes so the forecast accounts for them. Cadence: monthly.

Skill instruction
You are a performance forecasting analyst for Google Ads. Data attached or live: daily campaign metrics for the last 90 days (minimum 60 days). Planned changes: [LIST ANY UPCOMING CHANGES — budget increases, new campaigns, seasonal events] Build a ROAS forecast model: 1. HISTORICAL ANALYSIS - Monthly ROAS trend (last 3 months) - Identify seasonality patterns (day-of-week, month-of-year effects) - Calculate the ROAS decay curve: how does ROAS change as spend increases? 2. BASELINE FORECAST (no changes) - Projected ROAS for next 30, 60, 90 days at current spend - Confidence interval (optimistic, expected, pessimistic) 3. SCENARIO MODELING - Scenario A: increase total spend by 15% — projected ROAS and incremental conversions - Scenario B: increase total spend by 25% — projected ROAS and incremental conversions - Scenario C: decrease spend by 10% and reallocate to top performers — projected ROAS 4. RISK FACTORS - Seasonal risks (holiday periods, industry events) - Diminishing returns threshold: at what spend level does ROAS drop below target? - Competitor risk: signs of increasing competition For each scenario, show: projected spend, conversions, revenue, CPA, and ROAS. Recommend the optimal scenario with justification.

Feed the skills live data with a Google Ads connector

Every skill above works on CSV exports. They work better on a live connection, because the data is never stale and Grok can drill down without a new export. Grok supports custom MCP connectors on web, iOS and Android; Google Ads is not in its catalog, so you add a Google Ads MCP server yourself.

Go to grok.com/connectors → New Connector → Custom, paste https://connector.get-ryze.ai/mcp, and sign in with Google. No developer token, no Cloud project. About two minutes; the full walkthrough is in how to connect Grok to Google Ads.

Run a skill against it

In a chat with the connector enabled, say “use the Wasted Spend Audit skill on the last 30 days of search terms”. Grok calls the connector's GAQL tool instead of asking for a file, then applies the skill's method to the result.

Let it propose the change

The connector's write tools — apply or dismiss recommendations, raw mutate — are approval-gated. After the audit, ask Grok to add the negative list and it will show you exactly what it wants to change and wait for your confirmation.

That is the ceiling of the skills-plus-connector setup: Grok analyzes and proposes, you approve. If you want the loop closed without you — bids, budgets and negatives adjusted 24/7 and re-measured — that is what Ryze AI's Paid Ads Autopilot does on the same account, at $89/month flat. Troubleshooting: when a skill gives generic advice or wrong numbers

Five failure modes account for nearly every bad output we have seen. All of them are fixable in the skill or the data, not the model.

  • Generic advice, no numbers. The export is missing columns, or the connector is not enabled in this chat. Ask Grok which tool it called; if none, toggle the connector on or re-attach the CSV with all columns.
  • Numbers do not match Google Ads. Check the date range and the conversion column (conversions vs. all conversions), and remember GAQL money fields come back in micros. Tell the skill which conversion action counts.
  • Every term flagged for the same reason. Fill in the [YOUR PRODUCT/SERVICE] bracket. Without it the skill cannot judge relevance and defaults to low intent for everything.
  • Skill did not trigger by name. The description field is what Grok uses to match a request to a skill — make it specific (search terms, negatives, waste) rather than a generic marketing line.
  • Output changes between runs. The instruction leaves the format open. Add the exact table columns and sort order to the skill body; the 15 above already do.

Running Meta as well? The same 15-skill loop exists for that platform: Grok skills for Meta Ads. And if a skill is worth running every week, it is worth running without you — that is the case for an autopilot.

Frequently asked questions

What are Grok skills?

Grok Skills, launched by xAI on May 18, 2026, are saved instruction sets Grok reuses across conversations. Each has a name, a description and an instruction body, is created on grok.com or imported as a .md, .skill or .zip file, runs in Grok's sandbox with access to your Connectors, and is invoked by asking Grok to use the skill by name.

How do I create a Grok skill for Google Ads?

Open grok.com, go to Skills, create a new skill, and fill in Name, Description and Instruction. Paste one of the 15 prompts in this guide as the instruction and save. In any chat, attach your Google Ads export and say use the [skill name] skill. Import works the same way with a Markdown file.

Can I use my Claude skills in Grok?

Yes. Grok imports SKILL.md files written for Claude without changes, and Grok Build reads existing Claude Code skill folders automatically. The 30 marketing skills on get-ryze.ai load into Grok as-is, so a team that built skills for Claude does not rewrite anything to run them in Grok.

Do Grok skills work without connecting my Google Ads account?

Yes. Every skill here works on CSV exports from Google Ads attached to the chat. A connector makes the data live and lets Grok drill down without new exports, but it is optional. Start with exports, add the connector once the skills are earning their keep.

How do I give Grok live Google Ads data?

Add a Google Ads MCP server as a custom connector at grok.com/connectors. The managed Ryze AI connector needs only a Google sign-in and exposes 14 Google Ads tools including GAQL and Keyword Planner; self-hosted servers need a developer token. With the connector enabled, skills pull data instead of asking for files.

Can a Grok skill make changes in Google Ads?

Only through a connector with write tools. Skills themselves analyze and draft; with the Ryze AI connector attached, Grok can propose to apply a recommendation or add negatives and the change waits for your approval. A skill plus a read-only connector never changes the account.

Which Grok skill should I install first?

The Wasted Spend Audit. It needs one export — search terms, last 30 days, all columns — and returns an import-ready negative list with the monthly saving, so the value is visible on the first run. Add the Weekly Performance Digest second; it is the one your stakeholders will read.

What is the difference between a Grok skill and a prompt?

A prompt is a one-off instruction typed into chat; its output varies with phrasing. A skill is that instruction saved with a role, required inputs, a method and an output format, invoked by name, so it produces the same table every run for anyone on the team. Consistency is the point.

Do Grok skills work in the Grok mobile apps?

Yes. Skills and Connectors are managed on grok.com and then available in the Grok iOS and Android apps. Attach exports from the Files app or run against a connector. Grok Build, the terminal agent, is separate and runs on a computer.

Can Grok run these skills on a schedule?

Not inside the Grok apps, which run while you are in the chat. Grok Build can run a skill on a cron job from the terminal if you have SuperGrok or X Premium+. For changes that should happen without you, an autopilot such as Ryze AI executes on its own schedule.

Which skill uses Grok's X search?

The Competitor Benchmark Report. It combines your auction insights with a live X search for each competitor's repeated claims, customer praise and complaints, and recent launches or promotions — messaging context Google Ads cannot show you. That makes it the one skill in this set that is stronger in Grok than in other assistants.

Grok vs Claude for Google Ads skills — which is better?

The skill files are interchangeable, so the analysis quality depends more on the skill than the model. Claude has a larger existing library and longer connector history; Grok adds native X search and imports Claude skills unchanged. Many teams run the same skills in both and compare.
